Where We Go

The Best Sandbars Near Clearwater Beach

Every day is different — tides, wind, and water conditions decide which bar is perfect that afternoon. Captain Mark takes you to the best one the day gives you.

Honeymoon Island

Our home waters. Sandy spits and shallow bars pop up along the island's edges — calm, warm, and minutes from the dock. This is where most of our sandbar days happen.

Caladesi Island

One of Florida's famously pristine barrier islands. When conditions line up, we'll run north to its quiet bars and shells that bigger boats can't reach.

Three Rooker

A shifting, sandy escape between the islands that shows up on calm days — a boater's favorite and a shell-hunter's dream when the tides are right.

Typical destinations are around Honeymoon Island; specific islands and sandbars can't be guaranteed — weather, tides, and safety always shape the route.

The Day

What a Sandbar Day Looks Like

On the 2-Hour Sandbar & Swim Charter it's about 30 minutes cruising out, a relaxed hour of swimming, shelling, and wading the bar, then 30 easy minutes back. Longer charters mean more bars, more beach time, and sometimes a second island.

The boat anchors in the shallows, the cooler's already iced, and the Bluetooth is yours. All you have to do is jump in.

Keep an eye out — dolphin sightings are common on our Clearwater charters! Many guests spot playful pods right alongside the boat. They're wild animals, so sightings can't be guaranteed — but they sure make the day memorable.

Clearwater Sandbar Tour FAQs

Which sandbars do you visit?+

Our charters typically explore the waters and sandbars in and around Honeymoon Island, with trips sometimes reaching the sandbars near Caladesi Island and Three Rooker. Weather, tides, and water conditions always shape the route — Captain Mark picks the best sandbar for the day, and specific spots can't be guaranteed.

What do you actually do at a sandbar?+

Whatever your crew enjoys most: wade in warm knee-deep water, swim off the boat, float on the calm shallows, comb the sand for shells, or just set up in the shade with a cold drink. The sandbars feel like your own private beach.

Is a sandbar tour good for kids and non-swimmers?+

Yes — sandbar water is famously calm and shallow, perfect for kids and tentative swimmers. All ages are welcome, and required safety equipment is on board. An adult should always supervise little ones near the water.

Do you anchor so we can get off the boat?+

Yes. When conditions allow, we anchor at or near the sandbar so you can hop off, wade, swim, and shell right from the boat.

Which charter length is best for the sandbars?+

The 2-Hour Sandbar & Swim Charter ($329) is built for a quick sandbar stop. The 4-Hour Island & Sandbar Adventure ($519) is our most popular trip, with more time on the sand and sometimes a second island or sandbar. The 6-Hour Custom Island Adventure ($749) lets you do several.

Can we go shelling on the sandbars?+

Absolutely — shelling is one of the best parts of a Clearwater sandbar day. The exposed bars and quiet shorelines turn up everything from tiny coquinas to lightning whelks. Bring a mesh bag if you want to collect (unsure of local rules? Captain Mark will fill you in on collecting do's and don'ts).
